This one is really hard to understand but if you think about it in depth you'll know that the design is repetition and when you're depressed you feel like you're repeating everything over and over again.

Expressive words #4- Loneliness

I also think that this one is self-explanatory too because there is nothing around the word.

Expressive words #3- Sorrow

I chose to use a crying face represented with type to signify sorrow

Expressive words #2- Lost

I think this is pretty self-explanatory, however the word lost is lightly illuminated signifying the lost feeling and and hoping to be found.

Expressive words #1- Fear

One huddled behind another signifying fear also the large "fear" signifies intimidation.
